We stopped in Green Lake briefly on the afternoon of Tuesday July 28, 2015. We were on our way home from Green Bay and so had the chance to stop in Green Lake for pictures of both the new courthouse as well as the old courthouse in the center of town. The old courthouse was built in 1899 and now has been remodeled into a community space called the Town Square. We were running a little late so we didn’t have the chance to see much of the city or the lake.

- St Paul’s Lutheran Church (WELS) in Hurley. This is the church that my grandparents attended. I remember going to church with them when I was younger; they moved to Ohio in 1972. My parents were married at St Paul’s and I was baptized here. St Paul’s is one of three churches in the Northwoods Tri-Parish.

Milwaukee Photos
I took these photos on June 21, 2015; a beautiful Sunday morning. I was in the Milwaukee area for the WSB Saengerfest. It started at noon so I thought I would go early and take some pictures of the Milwaukee County courthouse and downtown Milwaukee. This was the first time in many years that I had been in downtown Milwaukee. It was kind of surprising; for example I remember visiting the Milwaukee Public Museum as a child, but I didn’t realize that the museum was right next to the courthouse.
It was definitely time well spent; I will have to go back and visit again.

Eponymous Counties
Wisconsin has quite a few counties which are named after their county seats. Just for fun I thought I would make a list of those counties. Or a list of the county seats.
- Ashland
- Barron
- Eau Claire
- Florence
- Fond du Lac
- Green Lake
- Jefferson
- Kenosha
- Kewaunee
- La Crosse
- Manitowoc
- Marinette
- Milwaukee
- Oconto
- Racine
- Shawano
- Sheboygan
- Waukesha
- Waupaca
These are some county seats that do not quite have the same name as the county:
- Chippewa Falls (Chippewa County)
- Richland Center (Richland County)
Milwaukee County Links
Here are my links for Milwaukee County. There are a lot of them, so it will take some time to get the entire list in place.

- The Milwaukee County Transit System web site
- The web site for General Mitchell International Airport
- The Milwaukee Turners and Turner Hall web site
- The Milwaukee County Zoo web site

- The Miller Brewery tour information page
- The Milwaukee Art Museum web site
- The Milwaukee Brewers web site. I try to attend one or two Brewers games every summer, but I’m not a huge fan. I really haven’t enjoyed baseball very much since the Braves left Milwaukee after the 1965 season.
- The Visit Milwaukee tourism web site
- The Milwaukee Riverwalk web site – it’s part of Visit Milwaukee
- The web site for German Fest. I occasionally attend this and sing in the combined choir for the church service on Sunday morning.
- The Milwaukee Bucks web site. I’m not a big fan of the NBA but I did attend one Bucks game, though that was quite a while ago.
- The Milwaukee Brewery Tours web site
- The web site for Marquette University
- The Pabst Theater web site
- The Milwaukee Liederkranz web site. The Liederkranz is one of the Milwaukee area’s German choirs.
- The Bradley Center web site. The Bucks play here, at least for the moment.
- The Usinger’s Famous Sausage web site
- The City of Cudahy web site
- The City of South Milwaukee web site
- The City of Wauwatosa web site
- The Hart Park Friends web site. Hart Park is located in Wauwatosa and the choir I sing occasionally participates in competitions here. It’s a beautiful park along the Menomonee River, though of course we don’t get to see a lot of it during the singing competitions.
- The Astronautics Corporation of America web site
Wautoma Photos
These ar ethe photos I took of the Wautoma County courthouse on Sunday May 24, 2015. It was raining heavily during my very brief visit, but I did walk around the block that the courthouse is located on. It’s just a block or two from Main Street in Wautoma. It’s a very nice looking building and has been well-maintained over the years. The addition that was built in the 1960s really blends in with the original 1929 building.
