I visited Shawano on the morning of September 11, 2017. I was on my way home from Door County and I took the long way home in order to visit three county courthouses; Shawano was my first stop that morning. The city has definitely changed since my last visit more than 40 years ago! It’s a very nice place and easy to get around. The courthouse itself is a simple building but still striking. Unfortunately there are four large red maples on the east side of the building that pretty much hide the front of the courthouse.
Because I visited so early in the morning, the direction of the sun prevented me from getting any good photos of the lake. Perhaps on my next visit!
- The main entrance of the courthouse
- The Veteran’s Memorial in front of the courthouse
- A view of the south side of the building
- The Sheriff’s Department building is just north of the courthouse
- The north side of the courthouse
- A view from the northeast
- Another look at the courthouse main entrance
- A view from the southeast; the red maples really hide the front of the building
- One last look at the courthouse and the red maples as I walk back to the car
