I visited the Marathon County courthouse on September 11, 2017 – it was the third courthouse I had visited on this beautiful Monday morning as I took the long way home from Door County. I hadn’t been in Wausau for many years so I don’t really have any useful memories of the city, or even Marathon County.
The courthouse is very striking and very unusual for a 1950s Wisconsin courthouse. I walked around downtown for a while after photographing the courthouse and saw the downtown park being set up for the International Wisconsin Ginseng Festival which was held later in the week. I also made a quick stop at the Wausau Center which is a large indoor shopping mall just a block or two from the park and also from the courthouse.
