The City of Seymour web site. Seymour is the location of the Outagamie County fair. In 1885 Charlie Nagreen sold flattened meatballs which he placed between slices of bread at the Seymour Fair (the precursor to the Outagamie County Fair). He called this creation a “hamburger.” So Seymour is where the hamburger was first created; Seymour used to have a “Hamburger Olympics” to celebrate this, until it ran afoul of the licensing arm of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

These are some photos that I took in Appleton on Thursday November 27, 2014. I was on my way home from Thanksgiving dinner with my parents and family. I took a couple of pictures of my alma mater, Appleton West High School, before stopping at the courthouse area. Most of the pictures are of the old courthouse, which has been remodeled and houses some of the county offices, but I did take a few of the adjacent Justice Center.

I remember visiting the old courthouse when I was in 9th grade as part of a field trip for my “American Government” class at Einstein Junior High School.
