Cadott Photos

Here are some photos from the “First Tapping” event of the Wisconsin Maple Syrup Producers Association on the morning of Saturday March 14, 2015. We arrived just before the ceremony at 10:00 am; it was a long drive from Madison to Cadott. Alice in Dairyland did the first tapping, though in fact most of the trees had already been tapped because the sap had started to run the previous week.

They no longer use buckets for collecting the maple sap; instead there is plastic tubing that is connected to a vacuum system which makes things a lot easier. The event was held in Cedric Boettcher’s sugar bush and afterward there was a pancake brunch at his nearby farm.

Chippewa Falls Photos

We visited the Chippewa County courthouse on Saturday afternoon March 14, 2015. We left Cadott around 12:30 and made it to Chippewa Falls about 20 minutes later. So we had some time to walk around and take a few photos before heading to Eau Claire.

The Chippewa County courthouse is very nice; it was built in 1951. It’s not very fancy; it’s more functional than anything else, but it’s in good shape and obviously well maintained.

I visited the Dane County courthouse on Monday March 23, 2015; I took the bus downtown on my lunch hour. We had a late season snow storm overnight so there were several inches of snow on the ground. I took some photos of the courthouse and the State Capitol building as well as a few of the City-County Building which is where the county courthouse was located before the new courthouse was constructed. In fact the only time I’ve ever been a participant in a court proceeding was in the City-County building. I attended Juvenile Court when the guy who stole two wheels from my car was sentenced back in 2001.

These are the photos that I took of the Juneau County courthouse and Justice Center on Saturday March 14, 2015. It was a beautiful day, though it was getting a little late in the afternoon. This was our last stop after visiting three other county courthouses that afternoon, so we were a little tired and looking forward to getting back to Madison.

The courthouse complex is very nice, and I like the look of the courthouse building. Even the disabled access ramp at the back of the courthouse fits in with the overall architecture. The one regret I have is that I didn’t realize how polished the stone was at the Veterans Memorial; it actually picked up the reflection of the buildings across the street. I should have stood a little to one side.

These are my photos from our visit to Black River Falls on Saturday March 14, 2015. There are just photos of the Jackson County courthouse. We would have stopped by the Sand Creek Brewing Company, but it was closed; they do not open on Saturdays until May.
